This analysis aims to highlight any issues in the propagation of radio signals and to define the optimal placement of WiFi network devices, whether replacing or complementing an existing infrastructure.

In questo ambito, il servizio Site Survey di Computer Assistance comprende tutte le fasi di valutazione dell’esistente e delle potenziali soluzioni che permettono di arrivare a un progetto di rete adeguato alle necessità dell’azienda cliente. Il servizio parte da un sopralluogo on-site delle aree da coprire con la nuova rete WiFi, il quale ha l’obiettivo di:

• Define a precise map of the areas affected by wireless coverage
• Identify any elements causing interference or obstacles for radio signals
• Locate the position of any existing WiFi Access Points
• Create a mapping of the current wireless coverage, if present, with WiFi signal power levels (dBm)
• Analyze the existing wired network infrastructure, which carries data traffic to/from the Access Points

The collection and analysis of this information allow for:

• Identifying the optimal placement of Access Points in the new network, based on coverage goals and metrics
• Identifying the best Access Point models according to design objectives
• Defining any necessary changes to the supporting wired network, such as adding switches or redefining connections to the Access Points
• Defining requirements and policies for user/endpoint authentication and access
